Donald “Butch”
Kasparek was born and raised in Solon, Iowa. He worked on the family
farm until 1966 when his dad started a housing development on Lake MacBride. It
was at this time that Butch started farming out to different contractors for summer
work. In 1969 he worked for Novotny & Son part-time as well as Kasparek Excavation.
In 1972 he began working full-time for Novotny’s and has been here ever
since. Butch recently concluded the 2008 year as President of the Iowa Water Well
Association, of which, he has been a board member of for six years.
Butch and his wife, Marie, live in Swisher where they raised their three boys
and have resided for 34 years. The eldest, Chris, is a youth director with the
military, and lives in Washington State with his wife Vanessa and their two children,
Emma and Camden. For eight years the middle son, Casey, worked along side Butch
at Novotny's. In the fall of 2008 Casey moved to Europe with his partner, Jen,
to pursue artistic endeavors. Tim, the youngest sibling, and his wife Lori have
a home in Iowa City where Tim is a Senior Pricing Analyst with Pearson.
Butch holds certificates in well drilling, pump installation, water treatment
and water distributions with the State of Iowa.
